CUET
Common University Entrance Test (CUET)
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET), formerly known as the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET), has been introduced for admission to all the UG and PG courses available in the Central Universities and other Universities of the State. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which has been established by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, conducts efficient, transparent and standardised tests to assess candidates in terms of their knowledge, problem-solving skills and other analytical skills. NTA conducts CUET to take admission of highly meritorious candidates into the various Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) courses of the premier higher education institutions.
Highlights
Why is CUET Important?
- Access to top universities: Over 45+ central universities (such as DU, JNU, BHU, JMI, etc.) and many other state, private, and deemed universities (a total of 250+) will be a part of CUET UG 2025. CUET will be the one common entrance for admission to all these 250+ universities.
- Transparent admission process: CUET discontinues the long-standing university admission process, often found unfair for students from particular boards. CUET provides a standardized test; hence, a student from a different Board or background gets an equal opportunity to secure admission to their dream college.
- Wider choice for courses: CUET doesn’t limit students to one particular course or institution. The range of UG courses in various fields the participating universities offers is wide. This structure allows students to identify their area of interest, develop it, and find a program that matches their career goals.
- Reduced costs and stress: Attending many university entrance examinations is costly and stressful. One of the most compelling reasons to write CUET is that students no longer have to waste their precious time, money, and energy preparing for separate entrance exams. Therefore, they can concentrate on one test to secure admission to the program of their choice.
- Various scholarship opportunities: Many universities provide merit-based scholarships based on CUET scores. Doing well in the test can include access to scholarship opportunities and reducing the financial pressures of education.
- Exposure to competitive exams: CUET UG can be a good trial for national-level competitive examinations like UPSC (Civil Services) or CAT. Starting with CUET early in their academic career will familiarize students with the competitive exam setting and allow them to perfect their test-taking strategies.
